NYE

Majorly stressed out couple of days, just because of work, I've worked myself into the ground the last few weeks as i kind of let the group down a while ago and im generally shattered and had a rather shit day on the monday, long story

but with one insanely bad thing, comes one insanely good thing to even it out.

New years eve, i hadnt heard anything going on but originally i really wanted to go to London for the fireworks as Ive never done it before and didn't fancy ending up on another night out in oxford but didn't think anyone else would be as excited or up for it as me this year, so instead said i would babysit as mum wanted to head off to the bystander pub for the party, wasn't to fussed really as theres always Jools Hollands Special Hooternanny show and next year for London, that and mum doesn't go out to often its nice to give her a break, she wasn't to happy Hannah had decided to tag along but never the less,

Got back on the monday and was relaxing checking emails, when harry poped up and said hello, "what are you doing for new years?" he asked, i said the above and asked him the same, "well me talia and some others are off to London for new years, fancy coming with i could do with some more manly company"

it took me a minute for it to sink in, but ended up laughed at the whole coincidence of it all and said id try my best, so currently I've solved the babysitting, Hannah's happy doing it for some extra money, and means mums happy theres no tag along, sorted work out, i got my pay slip today so get payed literally on new years eve so have money and have borrowed a phone. every ones happy and the plan has actually come together

...

FUCK YES, FIREWORKS HERE WE COME :D :D :D :D

I seriously have the mental age of 5 when it comes to fireworks, that and getting to do the count down from Big Ben, london is still exciting in itself as i dont go there to often but its going to be madness, im beyond excited, south parks was pretty cool for fireworks but this is going to be in a different league, and as i wont stay to long after midnight i might even catch people in oxford still on the way back so :D :D :D in the excitement ive thought of new years resolutions etc as well, but i really need to get to the gym so another day

Happy New years,

laters xo

Boxing Day

Nice quiet one, Mum was shattered from driving yesterday so just head down and working all day, cakes in the morning then 6- 10 at the pub, david had the kids up at his grandparents for the day, and hannah was out.

So home alone, so read more of Chris ryan, like a geek but i find it really interesting as he goes into loads of detail on certain things with facts i never knew before, like one of the bits i was reading at my grandparents, his helicopter had a seagul go into the engine, cut it out and the whole thing went down like a stone into the freezing water, its completly flooded and is now sinking, heres the extract i found awesome:

"I could sense the darkness closing in on me, a sign my brain was suffering from acute oxygen deprivation. Without Fresh oxygen in the blood the heart begins to beat erratically and finally shuts down. Blood pools in the brain - but you arent dead yet. The brain can hold out a long time while on residual oxygen. People have actually been pulled out from under ice fifty minutes after there hearts have shut down, and been revived without brain damage, the colder the water, the longer you can live. "

Facts like that. Awesome, That and i generally find anything medical pretty interesting but i got to the most recent episode of house a while ago :/ so chris ryan will have to do.

after doing this for a bit, i got out We Were Soldiers, with mel gibson in it, another present with a pint of fosters and had a rather manly afternoon. The begining does drag out for a while but i forgot just how brutal some of the scenes are, the worst is its one where a napalm bomb comes in to close and gets some of the american soldiers, they go to pick him up to the choper by his legs and the burnt skin comes clean off in the guys hands, ERGH but its still one of the all time best films. heres a clip, if you've never seen it and like things like saving private ryan, pearl harbour, etc its worth a watch,

This has taken me a while to post all of these, so im heading off to relax before its back to work tomorrow and the gym, So Laters xo

Day

Christmas Day
Rolled out of bed at 9, looking like shit, and told we where leaving for the grandparents at half 9, this wasnt the best start ha, but ran around and got ready and threw my stocking in the car so id have something to do on the 2 and a half hour journey. our radio is broken as well, so we had a big bright pink cd player all the way, good times

Laughed on the way up tho, at christmas its pretty normal to have an array of chairs, that are from the spare room, attic or the basement etc when all the family get together, but one family has gone one step further. there kids where pressed against the front seats of the car as in the back they had 5 chairs and a dining table. epic

got up there ... there being market drayton, north shropshire which is kind of near stoke on trent, i only mention it as it is beautiful countryside, kind of like where i used to live and the satnav decided to take us down the back roads, which where covered in ice and snow. zafira delt with it but it was fun

Got there to a MENTAL patch, he still remembers all of us and he went loopy for about half an hour, we didnt have the camera or video camera which was a shame but it was such a welcome, got the kettle on and sat down and went for the presents :D grandparents bought me an official army fitness guide and £10, such a good present, then had a catch up and headed for the train room. my grandad has an enourmous collection of model trains and a huge layout, hes riping it up this year to sell it as his pension doesnt kick in for another 3 years, hes got tons of collectors items worth thousands in there, as he used to own a model shop, so me and james made the most of it before lunch. if you've never seen/heard anything like it this is around the uberness of what we where playing with here, one of the first videos i found on youtube.

Then came FOOD :D, love christmas dinner more than anything else, everyone together round the table with the whole get up of wine, crackers, candles etc, so good, little to say i had two rounds of this, with christmas pudding on top as me and grandad halfed it as no one else likes it. we then got talking about the army stuff, and he asked if id ever read anything by chris ryan or andy mcnab, to which he brought out the 4 books he had, hes let me borrow them at the moment and there brilliant, im half way through chris ryan's "land of fire" at the moment, its not the first in the series but i dont get payed till new years so you know.

but after lunch we got out the RC helicopter, thats jame's present to see if it all worked, its actually an amazing little thing, but maybe wasnt the best idea to use it in the garden, as all the houses are raised away from a field out the back, at the end of there garden they have a brick wall and 7- 8ft drop down to the field, so what does he go and do? helicopter comes down out the sky clips the wall and disapears. we tryed flying it back up, but this is when we realised you can go up and down, but after that its anyones guess, so being us it flew farther and farther into the field instead of towards us, then the cherry on the cake, it went past an electric fence. grandad headed towards the house to walk all the way round to get it but walked right into the bird feeder hanging down HA, instead i just bailed down the wall, and then came to the electric fence which was a flimbsy one but just at crotch height. fml ha, but managed to get it and we tryed again, it went higher and higher, then cut out and came crashing back to earth and broke so took it back inside to which he Again walked into the bird feeder ha,

then curled up with the army stuff and wine with the dog throwing toys at me every 5 seconds to play whilst i was waiting for doctor who, Which was awesome as usual, i was lay on the floor for it as there was no more sofa space so the dog decided to sit on my legs and make himself comfy, although im waiting to see how david tennant gets killed off now for new years, but after this it was goodbyes and home.

journey back was just road rage all the way, but the best one was a guy sped past us at nearly 135, as there was nothing on the roads, got to the next service station and there he was surrounded by flashing blue lights, UNLUCKY ha

got back unpacked etc must of been about 10pm and rest of the night was spent relaxing with more southern comfort and:

The catherine tate show, Nans christmas carol, possibley the best character ever created is the Nan ... Chrismas ... WHAT A LOAD OF OLD SHIT! ha
Nevermind the buzzcocks, like the best of
and Russell howards good news, the christmas special

Oh yes, tv doesnt come better than that, and neither does christmas day :D

Eve

I havent been bothered to post over christmas, i've been enjoying it way to much and havent actually been at home but as everythings getting back to normal in our house, i thought id get on bloging again before getting back in to the usual routine. that and as my memory is a sive i should probaly write what ive been up to before i forget, as its been about 4 days
I'm majorly distracted at the moment though with breakfast, a cuppa and watching "mock the week, too hot for tv", which as lame as the title is, is IMENSLY funny as its just all the outtakes that where too rude or politically incorrect so couldnt be shown on the BBC, so this could take a while.

That and my blog has turned into a major detailed diary recently, i kind of like it, even if it sucks to others as it uber long but ill come back to read it next year and be able to remeber all the best bits that went on and christmas has been one of the dam best bits :D so fuck it

The Eve of Christmas
was pretty dam awesome, got up earlyish to get all of my christmas cards for work out the way, then wraped the kind of pre-presents so to speak as ive been broke i got little things just so they would have something to open and wrote in the cards the actual presents to come on new years when i get payed :D, (christmas i tend to make up for all the birthdays ive forgoten, as i cant ever forget christmas :) so headed off out into the ice and frost to basically do the old school thing of knocking on peoples doors to see if they where in with presents and cards, such a kid ha

First stop was work, but i didnt stick around as i was running late, that and they looked busy so basically just threw the cards on the first surface said merry christmas and before my manager even had the chance of thinking of asking me to help out, i ran back out the door and on the bike

Next on the trip was Ella's, Which i was still really nervous about for a million reasons (again its weird to elborate when you know the persons going to read it) but it ended up being really fun, got majorly distracted, looking at all of the pictures and videos of warwick uni and generally having a laugh, i didnt really want to leave but i said to greg id be at his around 12ish and it must of been around 3 when i finally did, so my bad

But headed back to oxford to get a few bits and peices as its on route to gregs, shopping on christmas eve is just one of the things to tick off really, like putting up the lights or the tree, it just seems the traditional thing to do, it was really crowded but then something amazing happened. i found Felicity. we had laughed and joked about me jumping out and surprising her in town, i cant remeber why now but i saw her down the street and it was perfect, she had just looked down to her phone and was coming straight for me, with all the people around i hid behind a rather large guy ... and ... then ... AAARRGGHHH, haha i dont know who i scared more, her or the bloke behind her. this was the biggest acomplishment of the day.

Then headed off from town to gregs, where he was attempting to make toast with cheese, i put real emphisis on Attempting, haha as he got distracted and burnt it, then he just the ate the cheese, but before i even needed to ask the kettle was on :) brilliant, and he had a text from felicity telling him to give me a congratulations as she was shacking for 5 minutes after :P

AND THEN (ha), after finishing my cuppa and doing presents etc, headed off to poppy and kirstys, this was majorly weird esspecially after the last night out (previous post), but they where at work so avioding it all, phil came to the door, kind of took me by surprise as he has a beard and a mustache now, completes the hard man look but had a bit of a catch up which was cool

Next on the rounds was Sams house, loyd shot out the door and said hello (there dog) and we did our traditional thing of catching up whilst playing burnout on the sofa, we hit on about every topic, of girls, uni, the family etc etc then it usualy ends up with a random discussion of something pointless, this week was "would you die if you fell out a plan onto water?" to which ive now found a video, i darent post it really as its grim, but if you really want the link is here. by this time tho it was getting dark so i headed off

up to hannahs i went, her mum opened the door and said hello etc they where just heading off to church but it was good to catch up a bit, as this used to be a second home back in the day. found hannah and richard (her brother) playing army of two, hannah worked out she had a small box of lindt straight away without even hesitatting from working at saisburys to much, she needs to get out more but it was still pretty impressive. however she didnt workout her actual present was lostprophets tickets to come with me and greg :D, shes also coming to the prodigy gig in the summer as well so i have someone to go with now :D but yeah just chilled on the sofa with mini chedders and shrek till i really needed to head back as it was pitch black now. to which i found a card on my bike, it was from sam who had obveusly run all the way up to come and give me a card back to all of our family, i really wasnt expecting anything back so it was pretty awesome, mum gave him top marks for the thought ha

Got back to a Roast beef dinner and a christmas carol, david was there but it really wasnt going to ruin my serious over excitement now for christmas, basically relaxed until everyone went to bed, then me and mum cracked out the alcohol, baileys for her, southern comfort for me and started wrapping presents at about 1am, she already knew one of the presents she had, Gavin and Stacey box set, so as it was technically christmas she ripped up the wraping paper and we put on the whole first series, i think i was in tears of laughter by the end, god dam love nessa, and trying to get the stockings so we could fill them up was even funnyer, who the hell invented velcro to attach them to the bed? but i headed off to bed about 4am rather merry and a bit weirded out as its the first time ive been on the other side so to speak of helping wrap presents, but never the less couldnt wait till christmas :D

Magic People, Voodoo People

I had no time to post yesterday so didnt bother,
12-3 at work then 6-10:30 straight after headed to tescos in the fitness that is my chef trousers and superdry coat combination ha and didnt get back till half 1 in the morning.

But BIG NEWS to start, a few people know the story of Diane and Jerry, who stayed around our house an age ago when we used to work at the Bystander pub in wootton, stole from us when they where leaving and went to court for fraud. they got found not guilty and gloated to most of the locals and staff etc, but karma's back, Only a week or so again Diane got a new job in witney, so they have both left the pub now, but they took with them: the children's Christmas party money, staff party money, raffle money and meat raffle money, coming to about 300-400 pounds they stole from the pub. Diane went back to give some flowers to Sandra (land lady) she turned around and went " thanks but didn't i buy these?" HA, There never to step foot in the pub again and mum got a huge sorry from just about everyone and the opportunity to say "i told you so" but its great means if anyone comes over we can sod off to the pub up the road again :D

Tesco is redonkulous. yes i do mean REDONKULOUS, it is and always has been a word but they havent even bothered to put things out on the shelves anymore, as its gone before they do, so have just thrown it all out there in boxes and stacked them high, when we got there it was just the delivery carts EVERYWHERE, with spilled cream and milk etc it looked like store had been robbed, complete chaos but Mum has the list and i push the trolley, its how we roll ha and i managed to get my secret santa for work, which is an rc audi r8 car, but the guy i have already knows i have him, he laughed and said he wanted a house a car etc, so i asked what car, and it was that ha shame he cant actually get in it

I've got some really small things for a few others as well as quite honestly im broke till i get payed after new years but on tab there's my alcohol supply for the coming months, it covers most bases i think

  • Lager = 10* Fosters (would have been Sol but its completely sold out)
  • Wine = Callaway Crossing, Shiraz Rose (would have been blossom hill but its sold out as well)
  • Spirits = Southern Comfort, Jack Daniels
  • 2* The big cheap version of WKD + Harveys Port = Cheeky v
  • Then for anyone not drinking, we managed to find j20's in the reduced section, just a whole load in a tescos bag so win :)

but got back to the car and packed everything in, went to de-ice it but it wasnt working until we realised our car was frozen on the inside, how does that even happen?

But yeah im going to get started on my Christmas cards today along with the presents and try and deliver as many as i can today and tomorrow, with a bag and hat on, make shift Santa ha that and try and remember parents names, this always stumps me pretty quick and i dont like putting + family, don't know why but for now i need to get ready for work and attempt to cycle in the ice and frost, good times so laters xo

Oh just quickly, between 3-6 on my break i found all the videos of Pendulum live at Brixton, as the songs are posted up now. They have a new album coming out as well over 2010 called "immersion" which i cant wait for :D theres two i cant even decide between, both are covers and both sound INSANE with the speakers up full volume and both are going to be on repeat for at least a week but i think Master of puppets/Slam is ahead, just slightly, but im posting both anyways, Enjoy :D:D:D

Snow

Beyond good mood, i think its going to hurt to smile tomorrow :D

Got dropped back with a handbrake slide from work, courtesy of my manager as our car died today, it doesnt like winter to much and my manager is more of a bigger kid than i am, in both sense's as if he had a beard he would be santa. hes got the belly already

but got changed and it began snowing :D only a little but i love the snow, i really am a simpleton, ive been jealous and bitter of generally anything and anyone in the east and north ha but i needed to head off to chris's to get my bike back in abingdon, which worked out brilliant as i was looking for anything to have a genuin reason for going out. So coat, gloves, music and high hopes of snow settling i headed out the door. slaped on shuffle which is usually a bad move but it came out with these

Cancer Bats - Hail Destroyer
Florence and the Machine - You've got the love
Maximo Park - Books from Boxes (also the title of the blog is lyrics from there)
Red hot chilli's - Cant Stop

Id never be able to pull that out the bag again in a million years, would have been perfect if it came up with Snow for the Chilli's though ha,
but i basically forgot it was Christmas over this weekend so just walking out into the world brought all the festive feel back. Wandering past Christmas lights, some of them are really good and i have a theory on them now as well but ill come to in a bit. Half way through it turned into a blizzard of snow which made it so worth while, it was to wet to settle on the ground so i doubt it will be here tomorrow morning but i ended up a snowman haha or a monster you'd find out of scooby doo.

My itouch battery died at this point so in the merry mood i became confident, the whole path was coated in snow and on the busy road that goes up from college to north abingdon, the guy infront was making footprints and was kind of walking funny, so i tryed to follow in his footsteps, literally, he went down a side road and i had metres of clear path, so decided to to confuse the hell out of anyone who came after me with turning in circles and even going backwards, that and she will kill me but imitating a "hattie walk" of walking dead in a straight line, one foot infront of another. i really am so special at times but did a manly thing of making snowballs the rest of the way and throwing them at anything i could see

but my theory is theres 4 kinds of people who do christmas lights, the people who:

  • dont' participate in it at all, probaly not there fault but still
  • put up the icicle lights or the one or two santas, that are traditional, the one huge blow up Santa down my road fits this nicely, they have it every year.
  • are like my grandparents, most things are all co ordinated to match perfectly and arranged to look really good yet simple
  • then the all out ones, as many colours, lights, Santa's, etc and they all have to flash.. A LOT

speaking of grandparents, what also made the smile that much bigger, i get to see PATCH :D patch was my little springer spaniel puppy for about a year until i decided to go for joining the army, i couldnt really look after him and give him the attention he needed, so he went to my grandparents up north, where im going for christmas day :D hes not even a dog to me, he was more a little brother, so im really looking forward to this more than anything :D

and well, Bollocks was the last post ... the last .. i can ramble and talk about nothings for hours. but im heading to tescos in a bit and going to ring ash as its his birthday today along with a triple round of never mind the buzzcocks on dave, so laters xo

P.s some people are really bad with secrets, especially when drunk :)

Last post for a while.

my own breathe woke me up this morning, achohol/morning breathe does not smell good.

but as last nights go, as i doubt ill get out for months now was, well im still a bit in shock and over whelmed. that and ive come home with everything i went out with, have my memory and only gained three injuries, which ill come to explain in a bit. so all in all. win

but this is probally going to be a long post, when i mean long i mean seriously long, (ill leave the sex joke) mainly because im killing time until i get my balance back or ill get riped on by my mum for the rest of the day, so im keeping a low profile with a cup of tea, that and she doesnt know about the bobble coming off the hat yet either :S

but yeah Started off being me and chris (hamblin) as i cycled up to his to get the bus but on the way up i didnt see an ice patch, que injury 1. bike went from under me and my leg and foot took the brunt of it, wasnt to bad but my shoe split up the side :/

so for a drink wore some of chris's all night, namely those <<<

Got into town and headed to the three goats as ash (who was first on my little list of numbers) was there, found everyone as they where finishing up so some split to the wheatsheaf and some to red lion, i went for red lion as i promised sam (thomas) id find him after he finished work here.

headed up there and as usual it was rammed to the walls but for peroni on the tap, i can live with it but first surprise of the night, i bumped into possibly the last person in the world i expected to see, rikki summers then poped out rhiane dallymore who where two raging chavs from mathew arnold. they where both pretty drunk so the not so sutle mocking began. cruel but rather amusing esspecially when we came to the topic of IQ, ha

then kate emma and sam (taylour) joined us to sit on our table, i mean this literally there where no chairs ha but sam (thomas) was running late so the adventures of the duo that is chris and chris moved off to the wheatsheaf. (not gay)

we got all the way up to mcdonalds all excited, then it dawned on us. we had no idea where the wheatsheaf was ha. so started asking around, until it finally came to me, just one of those moments you suddenly remember where you left your phone or keys and think how stupid you where to forget as i used to walk past it to the bear where dan works.

so got there just in time to catch unknown flow, i love a bit of unknown flow, that and it reminds me just how much i miss my bass. then stuck around for desert storm, which again had more sexy bass guitars, but everyone who was moving and not watching knew the words, i decided to make them up and head banged with shaun anyway, dont think anyone noticed ...

then headed to spoons, this is where i was a little nervous as i was given the heads up that poppy and kirsty where either here or the pt, last time it ended in a beastly arguement where i lost hair so instant i walked in, shot of extra proof rum, the bar tenders face as he smelt it said it all but if you can stomach that, your ready for anything. headed upstairs but they wherent about, found everyone else instead, que surprise number 2, emily and laura making out. to which i got pictures on there camera. theres not much more to say on that but i should definatly think about being a soft porn photographer. after this we split to pt and some to thirst/bridge

que surprise number 3, i was barred from the pt, most know the story (i dont) but the guy said "if you fancy risking it, go for it, manager catchs you then well you know whats going to happen" so i walked right on in. this made my life. que surprise number 4, poppy, no shot would have prepared me for this, no missing hair, no arguements and no claws but a hug and an apologie. This kind of knocked me back a bit when i was prepared for war, even had a hat to protect the head (yes there was a secret reason for it) so i trundled off around the corner a bit miffed and then straight after came the one thing i was most nervous about. seeing ella. id elaborate but its kind of weird when you know the person is going to end up reading it at some point, but in a few words, ive missed her a lot.

the rest of the night went great, everyone was in pt so spent it dancing and generally screaming "FUCK YOU I WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME" ha dj didnt even know what it was when we tryed requesting but looking forward to the charts today.

but it really hit home yesterday towards the end of the night what im leaving behind, knowing when you hug someone or give a manly hand shake it could be for the last time really started to overwhelm me a bit, giving proper long chris hugs really didnt help this and as gooder time as i was having i couldnt help but have all the things ive been thinking about over the past month or so in the back of my mindfrom pro's and con's of joining, to probaly never having a gf again or coming close because of the life style, to if i come home in a box would i regret not doing something? theres a million things like that, ill man up eventually.

but i solved one yesterday as i still have a lot i want to say to friends and family, from apologies to something simple like ill really miss you, so im going to go for christmas cards, even if they show up late, means they dont have the pressure to send one back then ha, but im really happy about poppy tho, it was near the top of the list to sort out some how, but there was one hug i left till last as it was probaly going to be the worst one to have to do, unfortunatly i never got the chance in the end but im going to try and find a way before i leave for catterick

after leaving and starting the walk back i bumped into rikki ash and matt who where on there travels home to botley, now being merry we decided putting a for sale sign over the speed camera was a good idea, although que injury number 2, ice, seems to be my mortal enemy but pretty much sliped and fell on my face into the road, bad times ha

said goodbyes in botley and headed home, but thinking is never a good thing, little to say i carryed on and just got angry at myself, i dont know why but snaped and lashed out at a bus stop sign, que injury number 3 i dont know which came off worse but i reckon ive broken my knuckle or bruised it pretty bad :/

this has taken up most of my afternoon again and is EPICALLY long and detailed but ive had nothing better to do today whist hungover, although i wont have anything to write about now for weeks as its back to the routine of work and gym which neither is interesting really, so yeah im going to try and get some sleep and play taptap revenge some more, mind numbing and helps my co ordination come back ha, so g'night :)

I've been having such a music session today as i dont have work until 6 and geting way over excited about all the up and coming gigs in 2010, no ones in the house at the moment and next door are out, little to say ive now probaly cripled my speakers and my voice but heres pretty much a list and a climax to the tradition of the video posts.

(and keeps all the music in the same place so i can just repeat it ha)

Ive already mentioned cobra starship in another post so next up

Lostprophets
All time favorite band, Probally the gig im most looking forward to as i know greg is already going, theres not much more to say on it. i dont think there is a lyric i dont know over 3 albums, i cant wait for the new one "The Betrayed" and loving the new songs played at reading this year. Now theres a million different videos for this band id put up, from there accoustic stuff, to covers, to well 3 albums worth of songs but the one ive gone for is "Last summer" one of my all time favortires from the album "Start Something" and it has some really good memorys with it, sun came out and if you strain your eyes, im on tv somewhere haha i cant remeber which bit, so enjoy

DeadMau5
Now this goes on till 3am so geting back is going to be fun, but i first heard Joel Zimmerman (aka Deadmau5) on the radio in the kitchen "ghosts n Stuff" which after seeing the video was my inspiration for the ghost costume for halloween ha and got addicted from there on after downloading the album and really really want one of his mouse helmet things (watch the video for ghosts n stuff to see what i mean) heres a different video tho of a song which ive come to like a lot, just ignore the woman mimeing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The National Bowl, Milton Keynes
Saturday, 24 July 2010
This is the event that has been top of the christmas list, its probaly my perfect top three to have in one place all for different reasons.

The Prodigy
I only got to see about 10 minutes of there set at Reading Festival if that as i was on the floor being crushed for about half an hour as i thought wouldnt it be a good idea to get to the front ha shame every other person had the same idea and well i nearly broke my leg :/ managed to get out eventually and couldnt of given a fuck, i raved with one shoe and got a circle watching to which a guy gave me a toren up shirt to keep me warm, just reminds me of, well stupidly how much fun it was, this was the song and i cant wait to actually hear the others live.

Pendulum
Another one of my all time favorite bands, i've seem them live at somerset house in london which was incredible, they have so much energy on stage, they even played hold your colour, which made my life. as i like pretty much every song this is the best video to show, its live from brixton, turn up the volume!

Enter Shikari
First time i saw enter shikari i was truly blown away, it was at brixton when they supported Billy Talent years ago, not so much for the music but the atmosphere, its simpley brutal, the people who go and watch them are up for anything, i can imagin its what going to a riot is like, but better! the video's from reading this year but honestly, just look at the picture for the video haha pretty much sums it up. and all the crowd surfers got evicted and made to go to the gates again haha

Stephen Lynch
This guy was entertainment thoughout secondary school and i saw him briefly at reading festival on the alternative tent which was really funny, i like most of his songs but better still he deals with hecklers in a second but be good to see his full set, so heres Special ed, probaly one of his most famous songs.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Im not specifically going out to see Billy Talent this year but they have been listened to loudly today, but i saw them in southampton not to long ago and there new album stuff with cancer bats and Canterbury which was brilliant, that and passed out in ashleys uni room on the floor on a pair of his trainers, :/ ha

Another one i really wanted to add up to the list of gigs was Kasabian. there not on tour yet but have confirmed t in the park, i havent seen them yet and was devistated i couldnt go to the itunes festival this year at the roundhouse as i managed to win free tickets :/ but keeping hopes up they do tour soon!

oh ive also spent all my last £3.60 (what was left in my account after last sat) on as many downloads of Rage Against the Machine possible and with the scheme of putting Rage Against the Machine CD's over every X factor one in HMV this Sat when im out christmas Shopping

im really looking forward to Saturday again but thats another post altogether so yeah as this has taken up most of my afternoon and killed time before the gym and work, which i need to get ready for about now, im off

It’s about sweatin all the bitches in my biker shorts

This is going to hopefully be a short one, as im shattered, did the 5 mile run. roughly an hour of none stop running. it hurt. a lot.

i really wanted to get out of the house in the evening, literally anything would have done, well at first.

i was going to pop and see chris as i mentioned yesterday but instead be much easyer on saturday as he lives in wallingford (i forgot this fact) so arranged for then instead.

But my mum has her new man around tonight called dave, ive never had a problem with anything like this at all, theres been some previous ones, but i just kind of wanted to give them some privacy and avoid the whole awkward conversation moments.
so got in from work (3pm) and said hello etc as we both know a bit about each other through mum, his second line: "i brought cake, help yourself its in the kitchen but beware i made it myself"... instant win. the dude brought cake! but no ha, hes a pretty funny guy and ended up watching a bit of top gear, another win whilst playing scrabble with james and jenny (little bro and sis) that and mum seems to get on with him really well, so he gets the seal of approval. that and he feel asleep whilst we where all watching shanghi knights and snored, ha

so much for it being a short one (thats what she said as well) but im getting an early night, but tonight was kind of a change to what i thought it would be like, im glad i didnt get out in the end, its been good to get to know him so all in all a really good night

P.s you thought there would be no video? you where wrong, and this is becoming quite a tradition now, i like it :) this came on when me and hannah ( ... fuck it ill explain the adoption of hannah another day) were watching kerrang, such a classic and dare you not to rock out a little. i know greg will most likly read this at some point, if he cant remember every lyric to the intro rap, shame on him :P but enjoy

Now Dance, Fucker, Dance..

i just farted, ha arent you glad you follow this blog?

... anyways im shattered in a word, roughly 10 hour shift with 2 huge christmas bookings, fun times that and my diet when im at the pub consists of tea, crumble mix, garlic bread and the occasional thing i can steal from the desert section, today, left over cheesecake, complete win
but yes this cannot be good for me!

on a dam good note, chris (an old friend from college times) got in touch a day or two ago and hopefully im off to see him tomorrow. so in a traditional fashion, as he.. well its not even a short fuse, he just doenst have a fuse so im going to annoy him and wake him up tomorrow and find out if hes about in the evening,:) ha that and ring the others from our group as well as its been ages now, this being the trio of chris's + goose and adam and see if there about anytime soon

that and finally said hello to our new next door nieghboors, as the house that has replaced our old garage is finally finished. ive seen them once or twice but been in a huge rush everytime, there lovely and have a 2 year old son called finely, whos awesome, that and i may have found aiden (the dad) a job at the pub as well as he was recently made unemployed, and hes a history nut so mentioning the army to him was like asking your grandad about the war. never shut up but never the less hes a good guy and his girlfriend is lovely she offered me finelys mini leather chair as i was a bit mucky from chefing, my knees came above my chest, again awesome.

that and before im DISTRACTED AGAIN, by a certain someone and a certain band, im going to bed, that and theres no videos or pictures this time, there appeal and excitement factor has worn off now

apart from this. :D

Homebound

Proud, yet pretty gutted at the same time

Proud because I've restrained from going out, no matter how tempted, as i need to save money for this week to get presents. (that and because I've kept this going for ten days)

the gutted part, being at home (hence writing this) Hannah invited me out to the gloc for metal karaoke for the 2nd or 3rd time now, i feel I'm kind of letting her down now :/ that and metal karaoke just sounds amazing, then sash to .. well .. not only bridge, but a Monday night at bridge and i know a few others are about as well.

Sucks balls

that and i got my punishment for not showing for work on sunday, i was at work on saturday when i was asked to lend a hand on the sunday which i dont normaly work as there delivery lorry had broken down in the morning and none of the roasts for sunday like beef pork and the carrots etc where going to arrive till 7am the next day and all needed to be prepped before mid-day, i got up at 2pm. (hopefully that all makes sense)

so i knew something was coming, as my manager cant do the usual of threaten to fire me as he doesn't have many staff as it is, instead the pub has a huge open fire that burns proper big logs, long as your arm and as fat as your hand, they got delivered today and dumped in the car park and it took me the best part of 3 hours to move them all and stack them in the shed, in the cold and rain, lame

before i die of bordom im off to finish watching equilibrium thats recorded on good old sky+, as ive already done everything like washing cleaning etc

but this is probaly, to this day, the most badass move with a gun ive ever seen, ....

Hot Mess

Hung to the over, in a phrase sums up my day,
got up at 2pm, i had work at 7am. :/

Never the less, got up (with a few balance issues) and got a cuppa and watched the first episode of the sixth series of house, little to say but its brilliant

Last night was such a good night tho and well worth the fragileness today, came into town with ash as he was staying over and headed to three goats to have a look for greg and kim, we couldnt see them and i still havent replaced my phone so headed for the bar, turns out they dont like citizencards, so no alpine. sucks balls, but i mention this as for the rest of the night, i strolled in everywhere and didnt even get a second look, everyone else got id'd ... everytime, so smug

but headed to oniels for the tradition that is Breeze, met up with sam, matty and his friend, who i should really learn the name of. im going to keep track of this for the simple reason they all owe me drinks now ha, then headed to spoons (cheeky v) and in bridge till closing, bridge is steep on a saturday tho, £8 but still was really good as there was some more old faces i havent really seen since the summer, but it was pretty amusing as everyone else was far more drunk than me, my minimal drinking didnt go to plan as such, esspecially thanks to the tequilla round but i much prefer watching the clowns to being a clown.

although a personal highlight had to be asking for something or other at the botley kebab, he cooked it, then i tryed to pay by card.

fuck sake

Also just because i havent mentioned it yet, going to see Cobra Starship in london, and its also gregs christmas present, currently the only one ive bought ha and its literally the day before lostprophets, so adventure to london :D and besides Good girls go bad and well, Snakes on a plane HA be pretty sweet to hear this live.

Update three

After passing P-Coy, This is the last stage, no more physical tests as such and better yet, no more crummy army posts until im actually there and doing it, but this works for me as im clear minded on the task ahead, but yes THE BRILLIANT BIT i get to do this.

Fourth Stage
BPC, Basic Parachute Course, RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire.

Not only do i get to come back to the merry old shire for a while and get my pass out parade if i suceed here, i get dumped out of one of these.

(Extract from British Army website)

During the course ill complete a mandatory ground training syllabus whilst the jumps get progressively lower whilst carrying more equipment. The importance of thorough ground training and rehearsals is apparent when it is considered that when jumping at 600 ft a parachutist is only in the air for around 25 second

The course culminates in a night jump with full equipment from 600 ft in 'sim sticks' (Simultaneous 'sticks' of paratroopers exiting alternately from opposite side doors of the aircraft). All of the jumps are made from C130 Hercules aircraft onto Weston-on-the-Green drop zone.

After successfully completing around 8 jumps, ill earn my wings and join the 2nd or 3rd para battalions. currently both are deployed in Afghanistan having recently come back off tour, instant i join, instant i can be deployed with them.

After 2 years, i can try out for the 1st para battalion who support the special forces and SAS but thats all way in the future.
So yeah, Roughly four stages to go, but with all this theres a million different things to think about, little to say theres been a few sleepless nights, its a completely different life. theres good things being its exactly what i want to do and always really have, back to the days of running around the woods with sticks as guns ha, i cant wait to get stuck into it all and be out there although i think thats me being a country bumpkin shining through there with the outdoors, but no matter how hard i try and have tryed, ill probaly never be able to explain why.
Then theres the bad things and well id be here for ever on that topic as would anyone else and well, my tea's gone cold, reminds me if there isnt tea along this journey, ill probaly quit a day or two in haha, so im heading downstairs and then to bed.
night all
xo

Update two

ill get to the god dam exiting bit in the post after, which will be the last stage in the joining the para's but ill get this bit out the way first and do it in order,

Third Stage

CIC, The Combat Infantryman's Course, Catterick, North Yorkshire
28 week course, The course is similar to the Standard Entry Combat Infantryman's Course but also includes Pre Parachute Selection (PPS), more commonly known as P Coy.

(extract from the British Army website)
CIC concentrates on three core skills: shooting, fieldcraft and fitness. However, many other skills are contained in the programme. These include signals, first aid, map reading, driver training and lessons towards an NVQ in security. There will also be time for recreational activities such as Adventure Training, paintballing, high wire assault courses and sport. This is where ill keep training until they consider me fit enough to pass PPS and put me up for it roughly after 19-20 weeks, most arent expected to pass first time.

PPS or P coy, is a week long test, consisting of 8 tests, this is from wikipedia but nothing seems to disagree with it so far.

10 miler
A 10-mile (16 km) march conducted as a squad over undulating terrain. Each candidate carries a 35 lb (16 kg) bergen (not including water) and a rifle. The march is currently to be completed in under 1 hour 50 minutes (TA candidates have 2 hours).

Trainasium
A unique assault course set 60 feet (18 m) above the ground, designed to test a candidate's ability to both overcome fear and follow simple orders at considerable height. This is the only event which is a straight pass or fail; all the other events are scored. The total score required to pass is known only to the P Coy staff.

Log Race
A team event, in which eight men carry a log (a
telegraph pole) weighing 60 kg over 1.9 miles (3.1 km) of undulating terrain. Candidates wear a helmet and webbing. This is supposed to be one of the hardest events.

2 Mile March
An individual effort over 2 miles (3.2 km) of undulating terrain, carrying a 35 lb (16 kg) bergen (not including water), rifle, combat jacket, and helmet. Regular candidates have 18 minutes, TA candidates have 19 minutes to complete the run.

Steeplechase
A 1.8-mile (2.9 km) cross-country run, followed by an
assault course. Candidates are under a time limit to complete the event.Time limit is 19 mins after that you lose a point evey 15 sec

Milling
In this event, each candidate is paired with another of similar weight and build, and is given 60 seconds to demonstrate 'controlled physical aggression' in a milling contest - similar to boxing, except neither winning, losing, nor skill are pre-requisites of passing. Candidates are instead scored on their determination, while blocking and dodging result in points deducted. Candidates now wear head protection as well as boxing gloves.

20 Mile Endurance March
A 20-mile (32 km) squadded march over diverse types of terrain. Candidates carry a 35 lb (16 kg) bergen (not including water) and a rifle. The march must be completed in under four hours and 30 minutes. TA candidates do not participate in this event, due to their reduced opportunity to prepare for the course..

Stretcher Race
Candidates are divided into teams of 16 men, and have to carry a 175 lb (79 kg) stretcher over a distance of 5 miles (8.0 km), each individual candidate wearing a helmet, webbing and a slung rifle. No more than four candidates carry the stretcher at any given time, swapping round at regular intervals so that all candidates carry the stretcher for a certain distance.

The prize, for those who are successful, is the award of the coveted 'maroon beret' , meaning id look pretty swarve but this isnt the good bit, the next post is.... BRILLIANT

Christmas eve in 2 weeks!

AARRRGGGHHHHHH
is the noise id make if my throat didnt hurt so much, its the reason i couldnt be arsed to post anything yesterday, i also got no sleep at all from coughing ALL night and tis only got worse today, being in a boiling hot kitchen thats around the 30 - 35c mark constantly really isnt overly fun, and im back at 6 but hopefully it will disapear over friday ready for the weekend (fingers crossed)

but yesterday was really good, work was really funny, as we did our secret santa stuff then bullyed it out of each other for who had who, chips went flying along with pea's, de baging and then, well one side of the kitchen is the potwash which i was on, it has a huge water hose with a shower head kind of thing on the end to help clean the plates, the other side is the hot plate area, where the chefs are, there steamer has a pretty powerful narrow water spray for cleaning the steamer... little to say it all ended in a water fight, id class it as i won but we all lost tbh as we have to use the toilets the customers do which is the other side of the pub, so walking through there soaking wet and being completely judged as they think youve just cooked there food is such a walk of shame

but finshed at 3 and then headed over to chris's (hamblins), as i havent seen him in ages since like college, so it was good to have a spare few hours to say hello again, now playing killzone two on the ps3, on an over 50 inch HD tv with surround sound is simpley amazing, he basically gave me the controller and went, well go. it was so funny, as expected i pretty much failed miserably
but hes also lent me one of his spare phones, to use until i replace mine, which is really nice of him, but he couldnt find the charger, so it would probaly last a few days before it dies, but thought that counts

usual of gym after then coco pops for dinner, a) because cereal for dinner is the way forward and i generally couldnt be arsed to make anyting else

right, now im heading to tescos, to finally get the razors and shave after about 2 weeks! its a full on beard now, that and come back and get on sorting out my christmas shopping, i havent even started and got reminded this morning its only 2 weeks till christmas eve, so sunday im in oxford and on it.

Weekend

I would have posted yesterday but i got a little distracted and my Internet came up with an error before i could save so i gave up and went to bed instead

but I'm really looking forward to this weekend, mainly Saturday because i haven't been out in over a month, no alcohol (also like how spell checker thinks alcohol is wrong) in a month either, i consider this a good thing and i intend to stick to minimal drinking (ill see how that goes) but still, but the plan, although lets be honest it never happens this way, is this

- pray my new ID comes in time
- finish work at 3pm
- gym it from 4:30 till 6:30
- either go for pre drinks somewhere that's not the PT (that's another story altogether) or find Sam have a catch up and walk to oxford
- most are back from uni such as Sam, ash as well and the usual oniell's crowd and coincidentally breeze are playing, I'm beginning to think its a set up as they are always playing at tiems we are all here, that and the lead singer, Jaime used to go to Mathew Arnold, even knows Mr Ford, Legend
- I said id find Sash and Mattie at some point, Mattie has her work do to sneak away from but other than that
- find a way home?

so yeah, good times, but till then i still have work/gym and as house has just finished I'm off to the first option
xo

The Physical

Today has been a rather good day, lazy but good as its my only one off work this week, so been doing lots of bits and bobs, washing cleaning the usual stuff, but got the Christmas tree and lights up now just need to get the snow spray out to complete the look but our house is finally caught up with the rest of the street as most of our row have something flashing in the window.

Also i've been suit hunting today as well for the interview, i have about £100 and seeing oceans 11 last night gave me some ideas, but i want a dam nice grey one like this, yeah i still don't know how to do videos or pictures yet, I'm getting there

http://z.about.com/d/mensfashion/1/0/R/R/74205163.jpg

but also LOLED at this

Steel Super Skinny Suit

but this post is more for me, to keep track of everything, all the stuff Ive found out for the army is scattered over a lot of websites etc, especially all the physical fitness. speaking of which, mines improved a lot over the last month but its still not enough so this is from what i can do now to what i need to be able to.

first application Interview

Barb test (simple math and English, timed)
26 lowest score, infantry
60 for most jobs
60+ for all jobs, counts as above average, needed for the para's

First Stage
ADSC (Army development and selection centre) Pirbright, surrey
Everyone goes through this 2 day assessment, along with medical, icebreaker, memory test and final interview

1.5 mile run, in under 10.30 (14km hour) Para reg in under 9.40 (15.2 km)
my time: 1.5 10m (14km)

Jerry can carry, 150m
2m press ups, best effort
2m sit ups, best effort
Heaves, best effort
Pull ups, over 10

Back and lift test, just to see if you can manage with carrying your own kit, the backpacks, gun etc

Team Challenges

Army ADSC video

Second Stage,
well its gets a bit hairy here, ill go onto do instead of basic training a para equivalent, but a lot of websites disagree and most are trying to sell crummy dvd's and are full of crap, so I'm going for the adsc fitness shizz first and ill find out more and update it soon

but for now, x factor at the gym

Saturday, 5 December 2009

The Plan

Managed to make it to work only 15 minutes late this morning and still got time to have my crunchy nut, i even have my own bowl at the pub but yeah just got back, still smelling of , well generally christmas dinner stuff, parsnips carrots turkey etc that and chips, if anyone else works in a kitchen they will know the over powering chip pan smell but at the moment, instead of showering straight away i come on here, ha you can tell im new to all this, its still exciting, give it a month

but been geting everything ready for the table of 25 for all the unlucky people working tonight, but ive never understood having christmas dinner... before christmas, seems odd, but never the less the mince pies came out today and well at least 2 went missing, mysteriously

My plan for the army was the original reason for this post, as its pretty unknown to most, being a very controverstail career to go down, esspecially with the amount of media coverage at the moment with the war its much easyer to talk about anything else

but this is all based on what i've learnt from the websites, forums and talking to current soldiers, as a lot live in wootton with dalton barracks just around the corner and i've been training with some others recently who have served in Afganistan, ill find out more when i go for the interview, but if anything seems wrong do say.

I'm going in as infantry, this may come as a bit of a shock to some and i do apologies to anyone i told engineering but honestly it was much easyer at the time.

There are 4 main areas,
Light infantry, your bog stantard soldier, who goes on to specialise in a certain area weather it be mortar, machine gun etc.
Mechanised, essentially light infantry who use armoured personal carriers
Armoured, your tank personel
Air Assault, this is the one im going for, and as so, ill paste the whole extract from the british army website

Air Assault InfantryAir Assault Infantry are Light Infantry, specialised for the Air Assault role. They provide a hard hitting and versatile force that can be delivered by air, aviation or by land in support of Apache Attack Helicopter Regiments. The high speed of reaction makes such forces very useable and must be 'light, lean and lethal'. There are 4 battalions of Air Assault Infantry within 16 Air Assault Brigade, the Army's high readiness expeditionary formation.

I'm going for this as its one of the toughest, physically and mentally, and will give me a bit of a head start over any other division, as after the 4 years i'm going to try out for the Royal Marines, most of the qualitys from a Para regiment will set me up for this, from there i can be chosen for special forces and even the SAS, but as im still me, i very much doubt ill get that far up, but its a dream and something to work towards

hopefully this should work but its the video as well... ok it didnt but heres the link

so yeah, thats the plan, interview im going to arrange for next week.

As Promised

Well, so much for work at 10 tomorrow, its now around 1am
Starting a blog whilst sat here with a cup of tea, watching lie to me and eating jelly beans.

The general idea why i want to start writing is to keep a kind of dairy (i say kind of because "im keeping a blog" so sounds much lamer than "im keeping a diary" and it would have been an actual diary but im on the computer a lot anyways so this tie's in pretty well and my hand writing as most know is dam special)

but yeah from the day i join up to the Army, the process, if i get in and what i get up to, which the interview was going to be today and the first step so to speak and something interesting to write about but well, I’ve left it till next week to go over the CV again over the weekend, press the suit and tie and generally get a bit more prepared for the open ended questions there going to ask, ill post tomorrow about my plan in general as well its dam late now/ dam early

but i have to give credit to friends as well, namely Greg and Hattie, i wouldn’t know about blogger otherwise and there’s are pretty amusing to read now and again,

I'll try and keep this updated when i can but chefing/working + Gym + Socialising + an obsession for Lie to me and House and generally anything tv shack related = very little time

Mega video just timed out, so im heading to bed

Oh P.s my little brothers surgestion of "accidently" touching boob was to close your eyes, yawn, stretch but instead of go around the shoulders, like you would in a cinema , go direct, your eyes where closed, so you had no idea ... from an 8 year old its not a bad plan
